TOYS
— Instructions for the Future

Concept, design & writingBook · 2026

A toy is not a small thing made for children. It is a small thing made by adults and placed inside children.

TOYS — Instructions for the Future is the book I made for the Multimedia Languages course at Istituto Marangoni, under Prof. A. Castiglioni. 160 pages, four chapters, two hundred images, printed as a single copy.

It reads the toy as an object that arrives already finished — designed, moulded, gendered, priced, photographed and advertised before a child ever touches it — and follows that argument from the catalogue photograph to the connected doll. I wrote and researched it, shot part of it, and designed and produced the book itself.

Every toy is a rehearsal. The life being rehearsed was chosen before the child could speak.
